How to Fix Scratches on Your Car: Best Methods

Scratches are a little more common on all kinds of vehicles, not just Maserati vehicles, than dents because it’s not too hard for a vehicle to get a scratch. If you find that your vehicle has a scratch after driving around Paradise Valley, then here are some simple ways you can fix a scratch on your vehicle from your own garage:

  • Candle Wax: Rub some candle wax over the scratched part of your car to seal the blemish. This isn’t meant to be a permanent solution, but if you’re in a pinch, this is a solid temporary fix.
  • Super Glue: Just sprinkle some super glue over the scratched area of your car to temporarily seal the blemish. Like candle wax, this is best used as a temporary fix when you’re in a bind.
  • Paint Polish / Rubbing Compound: If you need something a little heavier for fixing a scratch on your car, then we recommend paint polish or a similar rubbing compound. Try using a light polish first with a foam pad that’s not super aggressive on your car’s paint. If that doesn’t work, try using a polish or compound with a higher git level.
  • Wet Sandpaper: If you need something pretty aggressive, then try using 2,000-grit wet sandpaper. Before you apply the sandpaper, give your car a quick but thorough wash. Rub the sandpaper on the scratched area of your car, and when it’s at a point where you can barely see the scratch, apply a rubbing compound as well as a more fine polish to the area. Then, apply a wax or sealant compound over the area to protect that part. Afterward, we recommend waxing the whole car.
  • Touch-Up Paint: This paint is designed to help hide scratches on your car that are a little deeper, and this paint can be found from our parts center at Scottsdale Maserati.

Fixing Minor Dents in Your Car

If you have a dent on your Maserati, then there’s no need to be alarmed! Especially if it’s a small dent, you can easily fix a car dent in your own home or garage. To get your Maserati looking like new and ready to take out on the roads of Chandler, take a peek at some simple DIY solutions to fix that pesky dent:

  • Plunger: It might seem unusual, but a standard plunger can pop out the end of your car with just a few nudges.
  • Hammer / Mallet: A hammer or rubber mallet can be used to knock out the dent on your car. Simply find the dent on your car, and cover it with a towel or something similar to protect it from further damage. Then, hit that area on its opposite side with a hammer or mallet.
  • Dent Pulling Tool: This one we only recommend if your dent requires a more aggressive approach. With this approach, you’ll drill a hole in the dent, lace a wire through it, and pull the dent back to the surface. Afterward, fill the hole, sand down the area, and paint over the newly fixed part of your car.
